Târgu Mureș is located in the central part of Romania, approximately equidistant from all border crossings, at the intersection of 46°33’ northern latitude and 24°34’ eastern longitude, at an average altitude of 320 meters above sea level. The municipality lies in the broad valley of the Mureș River, at the meeting point of three geographical and economic regions – the grain-producing Transylvanian Plain, the hilly region of Târnava, and the forested hilly areas.Târgu Mureș is the county seat of Mureș County.
Transport infrastructure
Situated at the crossroads of important trade routes, the town has retained its strategic position to this day, with access to the European Route E60 and connection to the railway network. In addition, the Transylvania Airport provides extensive international access. Scheduled bus services also connect Târgu Mureș with all neighboring towns.
